Error Message

I have tried installing this sevral diffrent ways to include burning disks straight from Roxio, extracting the ISO then burning. and trying to run the ISO flat out. I have tried full and upgrade installs, tried from when XP is running and booting up from the DVD. I have tried the installs with my firewall and antivirus inactive and active. I get teh same error message the same time, and it is as follows: Error [0x0604ad] IBS Callback_CopySetupFiles:An error occurred while copying Setup files. Error code is [0x80070241][gle=0x00000241]
The specfic file causeing problems acording to the message is setup was unable to locate required installation file [BOOT.wim] please verify that your installation source is valid and restart.

If you have HD space, you can also try just copying the DVD contents to a location on the HDD. Run a CRC against that directory just to be sure your disk copy succeeded, and then launch sources\setup from there. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "darkwing|duck" wrote in message

You should not extract the image or burn it directly to DVD
With Nero its an option for Burn Image in the Recorder section of Burning ROM, dunno about Roxio heard horror stories and never touched it.

I will give it a try and post results with nero. I tried to use dameon to mount the image, that was a no go. Also tried to extract it, not thing. I am thinking it is a corrupt file, but everything is so backed up I cant even get on to download a new copy. I will post my results after nero, but I am not hopeful

nothing with nero either, still cant re-download either aghhhhhh

You are not alone. I have the same problem and I am just searching for a solution. If you find one, please let me know.

I have tried to install Vista useing sevral diffrent methods. What I have tried is installing the files after burning to a DVD directly from Roxio, useing ISObuster to extract the files and then burning it. And then just useing the extracted file. I tried both installing after startup and booting from the DVD and trying to install straight from the files. I have tried installing fresh, and upgrade, tried installing on my extra HD and the one with my current version of Windows XP Pro. I get the following error messages: Error [0x0604ad] IBS Callback_CopySetupFiles:An error occurred while copying Setup files. Error code is [0x80070241][gle=0x00000241] Setup was unable to locate required installation file [Boot.wim]. Please verify that your installation source is valid and restart Setup. Error: 0x80070002
any ideas. I tried to redownload but it wont let me, says I am over my number of activations. Please help

I had the same error message when I downloaded VISTA BETA 2 yesterday and did the install. I ended up doing a restore. I was really looking forward to try the new OS, but oh, well, hopefully someone knows how to get this fixed and posts a reply and I'll try again. If not, I guess I'll have to wait for the final release.

Well, I tried copying the setup files to a new folder in my desktop and run the installation from there. It made no difference. At about 52% of copying files, I still got the Windows Setup error message: "An error occurred while copying Setup files to your local machine. Error code is [80070241]".

I re-downloaded the ISO file but used a different download manger which I downloaded from Cnet,,com called "Free Download Manager 2.0. The download was successful and using my Nero 7 software I burned it to DVD successfully. I ran the tool that Microsoft provides to see if my machine could run VISTA and it said yes. I attempted the installation again. Before copying files it told me that I would need to get updated versions for my programs: Power DVD, Check For Real Player Update, Real Player, Rhapsody, and my newly purchased "Windows Live One Care", after VISTA installation. It also warned me that my 1394 Net Adapter and 1394 Net Adapter#2 will not work and instructed me to get updated drivers from the manufacturer. My machine has an AMD Athlon cpu that runs at 1.53 Ghz, 768 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9550 256MB 4/8x AGP Video Card, Creative Audigy 2Z Audio Card running Windows XP2 Home Edition. So, I inserted the newly burned installation DVD and to my surprise it actually copied all windows files 100% with no error messages. It did take a long time to do so, but it did it. It then proceeded to complete the rest of the list of the installation. It finally got to the point where it was finalizing the upgrade and at the very end it said "The upgrade was unsuccessful" and it restored my PC back to XP. So what went wrong this time? I have no clue.
